Drug Candidate Bolsters Cell's Tumor Defenses

In work published online by Science this week (www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/abstract/1092472), a research team identifies a class of small molecules that can turn the activity of the p53 tumor-suppressor gene, which is inactivated in most human cancers, back on. They may thus be good candidates for drugs that shrink cancerous tumors.
